In brief: small removals £150 to £400, large dismantles £500 to £1,500, crown reductions £200 to £600, stump grinding £60 to £250 per stump, hedge cutting £80 to £300, emergency callouts £250 to £800. Most domestic jobs total £300 to £900.

Is the quote really free?
Yes. You describe the job, the tree is looked at properly and priced, and you decide in your own time. No charge and no pressure.
How quickly will I hear back?
Fast. The more detail you give in the form (tree count, height, photos if you have them), the faster and more accurate the quote.
How much does tree removal cost on Teesside?
£150 to £400 for a small tree felled in one piece, £500 to £1,500 for a large tree dismantled in sections. Access is the biggest price driver: a tree over a conservatory costs more than the same tree on an open lawn.
Do I need permission to cut down a tree in my garden?
Only if the tree carries a Tree Preservation Order or your property is in a conservation area. Fines for cutting a protected tree are unlimited, so the check matters. Each Teesside council publishes its register online and checking is free.
Can tree work be done in nesting season?
Yes, but between March and August the job starts with a nesting check, because disturbing an active nest is an offence under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. If an active nest is found, that part of the work waits.
Is stump grinding included in a removal quote?
Sometimes, sometimes not, which is exactly why it should be a line on the written quote. Grinding typically adds £60 to £250 per stump depending on diameter and access for the machine.
What happens to the branches and timber?
Branches go through the chipper and the chip can be left for your borders or taken away, your choice, stated in the quote. Timber can be left cut to log length if you have a burner. Removal needs a licensed waste carrier, and the licence number should be on the quote.

Will I be pressured to buy?
No. You get a written quote and you decide. One follow-up call at most, then the ball is in your court.
What insurance should a tree surgeon have?
£5 million public liability as a minimum, shown on request. A branch through a roof or into a neighbour's garden is exactly what it exists for. Never let uninsured climbing happen over your house.
